Two men held in raid charged, others to be processed
Two of the eight persons, who were taken into custody during raids conducted by the police in Linstead, St. Catherine on Wednesday, August 24, have been charged with unlawful possession of property.
The men were picked up in connection with the recovery of an illegal firearm, a large quantity of ammunition, army clothing and electronic appliances.
The men are still being interrogated in connection with the other seizures and are expected to be charged with breaches of the Firearms Act.
It was reported that during a raid in the vicinity of the train station in Linstead, 174 shotgun cartridges and a handgun were found at premises owned by one of the two men.
In the meantime, the other six men are still in custody awaiting processing.
