04:21pm | Sun, April 29, 2012

Investigators probing the rape of a teenager in a section of Western Kingston, some three weeks ago, have nabbed a suspect.
The suspect has not yet been charged.

Divisional Head for the Kingston West Police, Senior Superintendent Terrence Bent in confirming  the rape suspect's arrest, noted that West Kingston residents played a key role in his capture.

According to reports, about three weeks ago, the  teenager was on her way to a dance class at a nearby high school.

She was later abducted, dragged to a nearby bushy area, and  sexually assaulted.

SSP Bent says since the incident, work has started to clear the thick overgrowth in the Industrial Terrace, Railway area.

He says over the next few days there should be a vast improvement in the conditions at that location.

Meanwhile, SSP Bent is imploring West Kingston residents to continue the fight against major crimes.
