St Elizabeth man charged with Larceny by Finding
A man, who found a computer notebook in an ATM machine and later used it as a collateral for a loan, has found himself in trouble with the law.
Sheldon Black 24, of Black River in St. Elizabeth, is to face the Black River Resident Magistrates Court on Wednesday to answer to a charge of Larceny by Finding.
Mr. Black was taken into custody on Saturday, following an investigation.
According to the Black River Police, on July 30, a customer used an ATM and accidentally left the computer behind. Mr. Black, who used the ATM immediately after, found the computer and kept it.
He later took the computer to a pawn shop in Santa Cruz, where he used it as a collateral to obtain a loan of $4,000.
Mr. Black was arrested after being identified in footage that the police obtained from the bank controlling the ATM.
Following his arrest he confessed to finding the computer.
He also took the police to the pawn shop, where it was retrieved.
