Recall Therese Baptiste-Cornelis as T&T UN ambassador

05:37pm | Mon, July 30, 2012

A call has gone out for Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to recall former Health Minister Therese Baptiste-Cornelis as Trinidad and Tobago’s Ambassador to the United Nations.
The call follows an embarrassing speech Ambassador Baptiste- Cornelis gave in Geneva, Switzerland
Her speech on cultural diversity has angered Trinidadians, with many saying it has brought shame on the country.
The 37-minute plus long speech was posted on the YouTube channel of the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy.
Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley yesterday expressed shock on seeing the video in which Ambassador Baptiste-Cornelis rambles on about how hard it was to be an ambassador, of her hatred for politics, her online courtship with her husband and her relationship with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, whom she said fired her because of her war with doctors.
