G2K review committee needs more time to complete report
The Kamina Johnson-Smith chaired review committee appointed to undertake a comprehensive review of Generation 2000 (G2K), the young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), has missed its deadline to submit its final report.
G2K, in a statement on the weekend said Senator Johnson-Smith requested an extension on the time to submit the final report.
She said the extension was necessary to facilitate further consultation with stake holders.
According to the JLP Senator a number of the persons who were part of the consultative process became focused on the recently concluded local government elections.
She added that the review committee wanted to ensure that these persons have the opportunity to participate fully in the review, and that it is able to gather the views from as wide a cross section of persons as possible.
The Review Committee was appointed by G2K in January after the JLP's General Election defeat.
G2K says it continues to see the review as essential to the process of regrouping, rebuilding and refocusing and is aiming to complete the review by next month end.
