Father & son dead, two others injured in Highway 2000 crash

A hunt is now on for the driver of a delivery truck which was involved in a crash which claimed the lives of a child and an adult and left two persons injured on the St. Catherine leg of Highway 2000 Monday night, August 22.

The dead persons have been identified as Delmar Sherriffe and his 9-year old son Jamie.

The crash occurred shortly before 7:00 p.m. and involved a Suzuki Vitara and the delivery truck, which were travelling in the same direction.

According to eyewitness reports, one of the truck's tyres blew out and the vehicle slammed into the Vitara which spun out of control and overturned.

Mr. Sherriffe and Jamie along with two other passengers, including another of Mr. Sherriffe's sons were injured.

Mr Sherriffe died on the spot while Jamie was pronounced dead at hospital, while the other injured passengers were admitted.

The driver of the truck fled the scene and is now being sought by the police.
